The existing residence was a typical split-level with the problem suffered by many such homes: a weak entry sequence wherein the front door enters at a small landing between floors. This design issue was corrected by creating a new, elevated front entrance at the top of a stepped and landscaped exterior walk. The new entry is at the main floor level, and opens from a vestibule into a dramatic, double-height Great Room and open Entertaining Kitchen. A side-loaded two-car garage was added below the Great Room addition, and the existing space at the lowest floor was remodeled to function as a billiards room and wet bar. an upper floor was added for a Master Bedroom Suite and Media Loft that overlooks the Great Room below.
